"Appearance is a consequence of fitness."
28-Dec-2007
A lot has happened in the last few months. I am recently single, I have moved into the city from the suburbs, and I have made little weight progress. I reached a low of 213 a couple of times, but with recent travel and the holidays I am back over 227 ? not happy territory. I think 2008 will be a big year for me, so I am starting off with a push to my goal weight of 185.
Other goals/plans for me in 2008 are:
-Play league sports (I have signed up for football starting in January)
-Compete in the 2008 Chicago Triathlon (August 24, 2008).
-Bike the California Wine Country
My journey began about a year ago. In the time between Thanksgiving and New Years Eve 2006 I dropped 13 lbs to start 2007 at 300. My next goal was 225, I met that before the end of August 2007. So now it is the march to 185. But not just that, the weight loss is great, but I am going for body transformation. I want to develop functional strength. Agility, flexibility, speed, and power I can use roughhousing with my son or enjoying sports. The body shape improvement and added definition are just a bonus (it is sad when your 3 year old son has more tone than you).
As for the remainder of my details, I work in management for an online broker. I enjoy reading (mostly-non-fiction), trading, cooking, travel, spending time with my son and friends, and (now) playing sports and working out.

how is everything going?
the holidays were a killer, thanks for helping me get back on track.
185 by February sounds like an awesome goal for you! I remember the days of 185 :). What are you doing to get there?
I'm doing a good mix of cardio and weights 4-5 days a week and have done a fair job of regulating what I eat (at least during the week, weekends are a different story). I'm really happy with my progress so far but there is still a ways to go. Thanks again Fred
I like your new pic! God I haven't done a headstand in so long, I'll probably crack my neck :)
Just to give me something else to work for, and because I have wanted to do it for a while now, I decided to start training for the Chicago Triathlon held August 2008. I hope to finish at 2:25.
Wish me luck!
Fred
Great job with your weight loss thus far. I'm excited to read your comments and graph sections to watch you reach your goal. Good luck at the Chase Corporate Challenge. I did the one in Boston and thought it was great. The atmosphere is electric. Enjoy it!
Jennifer
I have been progressing in my fitness goals. Because I love a challenge, I am making a few more. My company is participating in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge (http://www.jpmorganchasecc.com/index.php) on May 24th.
When I first agreed to participate I intended to walk the 3.5 mile course. Those who know me well know I have never been a runner. In fact I have never been a fan of ?cardio? at all. This is uncharted territory; tomorrow I begin the below 8 week training program to turn me into a bona-fide runner (or at least a close approximation of such). I will complete the prescribed Run/Walk sequence 3 times per week.
